What other parents say

"My son (almost 5 years old) attended a summer camp with Mini Professors in August 2025. Each day had a different theme: chemistry, the human body, space, and it was all great fun and educational. The days were well structured, with time for play, learning, breaks, and trips to the playground.
Every evening, we received photos showing what the children had been up to that day, and I saw that my son looked absolutely delighted. He came home not exhausted, but inspired, and always brought back something he had made by hand.
We absolutely loved this summer camp and are now planning to celebrate his birthday there soon. Thank you!"

Darya Kalanova

"I recently relocated from Dubai and was looking for a summer camp for my daughter. This camp was such a great find. Lena was extremely responsive and helpful with the booking process, which made everything so easy. My four-year-old absolutely loved it! They offer wonderful activities like woodwork, science, and other engaging educational projects. I’m really glad I discovered this place and will definitely be signing her up again in the future."

Renee De Beer Saab

"Our son attended Smart Start Kids summer camp for a week, and then we extended it for two more days as we couldn’t be happier with the experience. It’s a true boutique camp—thoughtfully designed, creative, and engaging. The topics (Dino Detectives and Fizz Bang Pop) were unique and really sparked his imagination. Lena was incredibly professional, organized, and passionate about what she does. Our son came home excited and full of stories.

We’re already looking forward to returning to the camp during the upcoming holidays. Highly recommended for families looking for an inspiring camp experience."

Frequently Asked Questions about Camps

Can I stay with my child during camp?

No, camp is a drop-off programme. Children do best when they can fully join in on their own, and our team is there to guide, support, and encourage them throughout the day.

Is it a science camp?

Not exactly. Each camp day (or week)  has a theme, and science is one of the ways we explore that theme — but it’s never the only focus. Children at this age learn best through variety, so alongside simple experiments, they also enjoy arts and crafts, sensory play, and outdoor activities that connect back to the theme. This balance keeps them curious, engaged, and playful without overwhelming them.

Will my child be doing science activities all day, like an extended workshop?

Children aged 4–8 have shorter attention spans and need a mix of activities to stay focused and happy. It’s not age-appropriate to expect them to concentrate on one subject for an entire day. That’s why our programme combines science with creative projects, sensory play, and outdoor time — giving them space to explore, create, and recharge.

We are a holiday camp, not a school. While we learn a lot, our priority is fun, mess, and social play. We want them to relax during their holiday, not feel like they are back in a classroom.

How many children are in each camp day?

We keep groups small, usually around 10–12 children. This way, each child can be noticed, supported, and involved in activities without feeling lost in a crowd.

Is it like a BSO (after-school care) or daycare?

Not really. We are not a BSO or daycare service. Our camps are structured activity days with a well-balanced programme designed to engage and enrich children. Some families use us as an alternative to BSO, or simply as a fun and meaningful experience for their child during school holidays.

Is this a replacement for BSO or a full-day workshop programme?

No. We are not a BSO or daycare, and we are not a full-day workshop either. Our camps are themed activity days that combine science, arts and crafts, sensory play, and outdoor time in a well-balanced programme. The goal is to give children a fun, enriching holiday experience with plenty of variety — not to provide continuous structured lessons or formal childcare. Families looking for a BSO alternative with registration or an intensive workshop-style programme may find that this is not the right fit.

My child is older — will they still have fun?

Our programme is designed for children aged 4 to 8, which means the activities are enjoyable across ages but group dynamics play a big role. While experiments, crafts, and play are fun for everyone, older children may need peers their own age to fully enjoy the “in-between” times. We can’t guarantee the exact age mix of the group, but we do our best to ensure everyone feels included and engaged.

About us

Hi! I'm Lena, the face behind Mini Professors Den Haag and Smart Start Kids. I'm passionate about bringing the magic of science to young minds. My 6-year-old son, a true science enthusiast, is my greatest inspiration. I noticed a gap in exciting, hands-on activities for kids his age, and I knew I had to create something special.

Because science isn't just about learning; it's about igniting curiosity, fostering a love for discovery, and developing logical and critical thinking skills.

I also founded Messy Mates Club, where we explore the fascinating world of sensory play, and Curious Creators Club, where kids get to create, build, and experiment with a variety of materials.

These camps are the perfect blend of science, arts and crafts, and sensory exploration, designed to create unforgettable experiences.

I can't wait to welcome your child and share the joy of learning together!
