Do I need to stay with my child?

Mini Professors (Ages 3–4): Yes, these sessions are designed for parent and child to explore together. One adult must participate.

Science & Tinkering Clubs (Ages 4–10): These are drop-off sessions, but you are welcome to stay for the first few minutes if your child needs help settling in.

Holiday Camps: These are strictly drop-off only. This helps the children fully immerse themselves in the team projects and maker culture.
Do I need to bring anything?
Do I need to bring anything? For weekly clubs, just your curiosity! For Holiday Camps, please pack a lunch, a water bottle, and a spare change of clothes.
When will I get the final details for Camp?
Parents of camp attendees will receive a "Practical Information" email a few days before the camp starts. This will include drop-off/pick-up instructions, our weekly theme, and a final checklist of what to pack, among other things.
Where is the studio located?
We are at Vlierboomstraat 413, 2564 JD, The Hague.
Is there parking?
Yes, there is free street parking available in the surrounding area. There is also plenty of space for bicycles and bakfietsen right outside the studio.
Can I book a single "taster" lesson?
Yes! While we offer term blocks, you can book a single session for any of our clubs to see if it’s a good fit for your child before committing to a full block.
What is your cancellation policy?
We require 24 hours’ notice for club sessions to issue a credit. Credits are valid for 6 months. For Holiday Camps, please refer to our full Terms & Conditions for specific refund windows.
What language are the sessions held in?

Science & Tinkering Clubs / Holiday Camps: These sessions are bilingual (English & Dutch). We adapt to the group to ensure every child feels included and understood.

Mini Professors (Preschoolers): At the moment, these sessions are held in English only.
The session I want is full. Is there a waitlist?
Yes! If a session is fully booked, please email us at info@smartstartkids.nl. We will add you to our waitlist and contact you immediately if a spot becomes available.
My child is slightly outside the age range. Can they still join?
Our age ranges (3–4 (Mini Professors for preschoolers), 4–8 (Mini Professors classes and holiday camps) and 5–10 (Tinkering club)) are designed to ensure the experiments and tools are safe and engaging for everyone. If you’re unsure which session is right for your child, please get in touch, and we can discuss the best fit!
My child has an allergy or medical condition. How do I let you know?

Holiday Camps: We take safety seriously during our full-day programs. A few days before camp starts, you will receive a Practical Information email. Please reply to that email with any specific allergy, medical, or other information we should be aware of.

Weekly Clubs: For our shorter weekly sessions, medical disclosure is usually not required. However, if you have a specific concern or your child has a severe allergy we should know about, please feel free to email us beforehand or speak with the instructor at the start of the first session.
