Terms and Conditions

Welcome to Smart Start Kids! We provide engaging, hands-on activities for children in The Hague, including science classes, tinkering workshops, holiday camps, and birthday parties. These Terms and Conditions apply to all our services.

1. Registration and Payment

  • To participate, a parent or guardian must complete the registration via our booking system (SimplyBook.me) and pay the applicable fees in full.

  • Payment is due at the time of registration. Your spot is only guaranteed once payment is received.

  • For bank transfers (where applicable), payment must be received no later than 24 hours before the session starts.

 

2. Cancellations and Refunds

2.1 Weekly Clubs and One-Off Workshops:

  • No refunds are offered for cancellations of term-based clubs (Science/Tinkering) or one-off workshops.

  • If you provide at least 24 hours' notice via email, we will issue a class credit for the value of the session.

  • Credit Validity: Credits are valid for 6 months from the date of the missed session and can be used toward any equivalent Smart Start Kids club or workshop, subject to availability.

 

2.2 Holiday Camps:

  • More than 30 days' notice: Full refund minus a €15 administrative fee per child.

  • 14 to 30 days' notice: 70% refund minus a €15 administrative fee.

  • Less than 14 days' notice: No refund will be issued.

  • The "Replacement" Exception: If you cancel with less than 14 days' notice and we are successfully able to fill your child’s spot from our waiting list, we will issue a full refund minus the €15 administrative fee.

  • Partial Attendance: We cannot offer refunds or credits for individual days missed during a multi-day camp week.

 

2.3 General:

  • All cancellation requests must be submitted in writing to info@smartstartkids.nl.

  • In the exceptional case that Smart Start Kids cancels a programme (e.g., due to low enrollment or instructor illness), a full refund or a move to a new date will be offered.

 

3. Participation and Supervision

  • Mini Professors (Ages 3–4): Adult participation is mandatory. One parent or guardian must remain present and actively engage with their child throughout the session.

  • Weekly Clubs (Ages 4–10): These are primarily drop-off sessions to encourage independence. However, parents are welcome to stay if their child requires extra support settling in.

  • Holiday Camps: These sessions are strictly drop-off only. To allow the children to fully immerse themselves in the team activities and maker culture, parents/guardians are not permitted to stay.

 

4. Clothing and Personal Property

  • Our activities are hands-on and can be messy. Please dress your child in "play clothes" that can get dirty. Smart Start Kids does not provide aprons and is not responsible for damage to clothing or personal items (e.g., toys or jewellery) brought to the studio.

 

5. Birthday Parties

  • Booking & Information: Specific details regarding our Science and Sensory party packages, including pricing, guest limits, and age recommendations, are provided on the relevant pages of our website.

  • Agreement: By booking a birthday party, you agree to the specific terms outlined on the party booking page in addition to these general Terms and Conditions.

  • Supervision: For all party packages, at least one parent or guardian of the birthday child must remain on-site for the duration of the event.

 

6. Photography and Media

  • Consent: We love capturing the "joy of doing"! During registration, you will have the option to provide explicit consent for us to take photographs or videos of your child for promotional use (website, social media and printed marketing materials).

  • Withdrawal: You may withdraw this consent at any time by emailing info@smartstartkids.nl. We will remove the relevant media from our digital platforms promptly.

  • Privacy: We never publish children’s surnames or sensitive personal data alongside images.

 

7. Safety and Liability

  • While we provide a safe, supervised environment, parents/guardians remain responsible for their child until they are signed in at the start of a session.

  • Smart Start Kids holds public liability insurance. However, we are not liable for personal injury or loss of property unless caused by our proven negligence.

 

8. Minimum enrollment

  • We want our sessions to be high-energy! A session or workshop will go ahead only if a minimum number of participants (usually 3 for clubs, 5 for camps) is met. If we cancel due to low numbers, you will receive a full refund.

 

9. Changes to Terms and Conditions

  • Smart Start Kids reserves the right to modify these Terms at any time.
  • We will notify you of any changes by posting the revised Terms on our website.
  • Your continued use of our services following the posting of revised Terms constitutes your acceptance of the changes.
